The Flourishing Academic Network (FAN) is a network of universities and mental health organizations with a vision to transform higher education through a holistic approach to student wellbeing.

Our collaborative work encompasses:

  • Research: Investigating and reimagining academic achievement frameworks to include physical and mental health
  • Teaching: Integrating contemplative practices into curricula to enhance attention, presence, and overall well-being
  • Programming: Developing and implementing opportunities and support services that ensure equitable access and participation for all students and communities
  • Advocacy: Fostering an understanding of our interconnectedness with one another and with our environment
  • Leadership: Integrating and modeling principles of flourishing across undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs to create sustainable system-wide transformation

FAN’s unique interdisciplinary approach  transcends boundaries among academic departments, student affairs, and health & wellness services. Our diverse perspectives support the development of novel research and evidence-based practices that support a holistic approach to campus life. By working at the individual, collective, and systemic levels, we aim to create sustainable models of education that nurture the whole person and the whole campus.
